The best thing you can do is just select your entire Max install folder and copy it (better still."Image" it). Do your work and if something goes wrong, just delete the ENU and ini you were monkeying with, remove the 'ORIG' you added to the original files and you are back to where you started. It took me 20-minutes.īut basically, before you start, copy your original '3dsmax.ini' and rename it to '.' Then, do the same for your good working ENU. I did it last week with Max 2022 and all is well. Using this method I can be up and running with 95% of my customizations intact in about 30-minutes. Don't just follow it blindly as some things won't apply to you, but, it will give you and idea what I do. It's my process and checklist so use it as a guide. I posted recently to someone how I go about it. But for now, unless I'm missing something, it's kind of a manual process. I hope one day the Max developers make a "migration" tool that will collect all of the user modifications really nicely and export them over to a new version of Max seamlessly.
